Suicide Mission, published by Starpath in 1982 for Atari 2600, transplants Asteroids' formula of dodging and destroying floating objects into an unusual setting: the inside of a human body invaded by a lethal virus multiplying out of control. The player must eliminate the viral particles before they fully colonize the organism, with the same inertia-and-rotation physics that made Atari's classic famous, but with a biological science-fiction setting rarely explored at the time. It's one of the most original variations on the Asteroids formula in the 2600 catalog, thanks to Starpath's Supercharger and its ability to load more ambitious games from tape.
