Alien Brigade was one of the last cartridges Atari released for the 7800 before the console was pushed aside by the 16-bit generation: an on-rails shooter built for the XG-1 light gun, in which the player blasts away at waves of invaders while the screen scrolls forward on its own through military-themed stages, very much in the vein of Operation Wolf. It was developed and published in-house by Atari Corporation in 1990, a year before Atari itself reused that same light-gun formula for Sentinel, the last cartridge the 7800 ever officially received. It's a late-era artifact of the 7800 catalog, interesting today mostly for what it reveals about Atari's stubborn attempt to squeeze extra life out of an 8-bit console, right in the middle of the Genesis and Super Nintendo boom.
