Assault puts the player inside an armored vehicle that has to blast its way through, firing in every direction, within the tradition of tank shooters Atari explored across several of its home platforms. It's not one of the most fondly remembered titles in its console's catalog, but it does the job of direct arcade action well: reflexes, waves, and score, with nothing more to it.
