Atlantis is the fixed shooter Imagic published for the Atari 2600 in 1982: the sunken city of Atlantis, rendered with an uncommon level of detail for the hardware, is under attack from aerial ships, and the player has to defend it from three gun towers before it's completely destroyed. Imagic, founded by former Atari employees, quickly built a reputation for squeezing seemingly impossible graphics out of the console, and Atlantis is one of the most frequently cited examples.
Beyond the mechanics — pretty simple, fixed-target stuff — what stuck in people's memory is that image: an entire city, domes and towers and all, with its existence on the line every single game. It's one of the most recognizable visual postcards in the Atari 2600's third-party catalog.
