Encounter at L-5, published by Data Age in 1982, puts the player in the cockpit of a ship flying in a straight line toward formations of enemy fighters, in one of the few Atari 2600 library titles with a subjective flying perspective instead of the usual side or top-down view. The sense of depth, though rudimentary, was uncommon for the time. It's a title that stands out within the console's shooter catalog precisely for that unconventional camera, a modest but real forerunner of the on-rails shooters that would later become popular on other generations of hardware.
