The Exocet, a French anti-ship missile, had gained worldwide notoriety shortly before for its use in the 1982 South Atlantic conflict, and this European cartridge with no great pedigree cashed in on that trendy name to dress up one more shooter among the huge unofficial output that circulated on the continent during the 2600's final commercial years. The gameplay doesn't stray far from the standard shoot-and-dodge formula.
It's interesting today, more than for its design, as a curiosity about how early-'80s geopolitical current events seeped even into the names of the humblest cartridges in the European market.
