Meltdown came out in 1991, already in the final stretch of the 7800's commercial life, developed and published by Atari Corporation itself: shooting action scrolling through different settings, in line with other shooters the company had produced in-house to sustain the console's catalog against the advance of the Genesis and Super Nintendo. It's one of the least documented titles of that final stretch, with scarce press coverage at the time of release. Like much of the 7800's late releases, it's valued today mainly as a collector's piece, testimony to a console Atari kept sustaining sparingly long after the market had already turned elsewhere.
