Omega Race brings to the Atari 2600 the vector-graphics arcade game by Cinematronics: a ship that spins in place, firing at formations of enemy robots inside a closed arena, with movement inertia as the main source of difficulty. The home version necessarily loses the crispness of the original vectors, but keeps the essence of that distinctive rotation-and-thrust control scheme. It's one of the less flashy but technically solid arcade conversions in the Atari 2600 catalog, appreciated above all by those who value the original's unconventional control design.
