Zone Ranger reached the 5200 in 1984, developed and published by Activision, after having debuted earlier on Atari's 8-bit computers: the player pilots a ship that must traverse an extensive map divided into zones, destroying enemy installations and managing available fuel to complete the mission, in a structure that combined pure shooting with the exploration of a much larger space than the genre's usual fixed screen. It's one of the 5200's late-catalog titles, released already in the year of the great North American video game industry crash, and for that very reason one of the hardest-to-find pieces in the console's catalog.
