Brothers in Arms - Earned in Blood deepened Gearbox Software's proposal: a war shooter where directing the squad -flanking, suppressing, ordering advances- weighed as much as pulling the trigger. Also set in the Normandy campaign, it told events from the perspective of another platoon, running parallel to the events of the first game.
Its tactical approach and its more sober, less heroic tone than other war shooters of the era consolidated it as one of the most serious offerings of the war genre on PS2, praised by critics for its narrative ambition.
