Brothers in Arms made a difference within the mid-2000s World War II shooter genre: instead of stacking up enemies non-stop, it focused on squad tactics -suppressive fire, flanking, ordering teammates- and on a more sober narrative tone about the human cost of combat, based on real events from the 101st Airborne Division. This Japanese edition by Gearbox Software brought that proposal to the local market. It's remembered as one of the most serious war shooters of its generation, at a time when the genre was still defining how much it wanted to resemble an action movie versus a historical account.
