Darkwatch, developed by High Moon Studios, mixes the western with gothic horror: the player controls Jericho Cross, an outlaw turned half-vampire after robbing a cursed train, recruited by the secret organization Darkwatch to fight the forces of darkness. It combines first-person shootouts with the use of vampiric powers and an aesthetic owing as much to spaghetti westerns as to supernatural horror.
It's one of the shooters with the most aesthetic personality in PS2's catalog, and though it didn't have the impact of other genre standouts, it retains a small cult following among those who value its distinctive setting and charismatic protagonist.
