Arx Fatalis was created by Arkane Studios and released in 2002 for PC as a sort of spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld, unable to use that name because the rights belonged to Electronic Arts. A year later, studio Wizarbox developed the Xbox port, published in 2003, adapting the controls and interface for a gamepad.
The game offered an explorable underground world with gesture-based magic, alchemy and a crafting system uncommon for its time. It passed relatively unnoticed on console, but it helped establish Arkane as an immersive-sim studio, a line the company would deepen years later with Dishonored.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
