Digimon World 4 is an action-RPG developed by BEC (Bandai Entertainment Corporation) and published by Bandai in 2005 for PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox. It breaks with the monster-raising simulation formula that characterized earlier Digimon World games to become a cooperative dungeon crawl: up to four players explore levels and face waves of enemies with their own Digimon.
That shift toward pure action, with a mission structure and team progression rather than story, brought it closer to games like Gauntlet than to its direct predecessors, and made it one of the few entries in the franchise designed from the start for group play on console.
