FIFA Street, developed by EA Canada and published by EA Sports, arrived on Xbox in 2005 as the FIFA franchise's street spin-off, following the same formula the NBA Street series had already applied successfully to basketball: matches with no referee, no offside, and a system of tricks and dribbles built for individual flair over tactical simulation.
The game gathered real national teams and players onto stylized urban courts, with a much faster match pace than the main series, aiming at an audience looking for a flashier, more arcade alternative to the simulation football EA Sports already dominated with the traditional FIFA line.
