Star Strike, published by Imagic, pits the player's combat ship against an enormous space fortress it must attack while dodging its anti-aircraft defenses, with an approach-and-bomb structure that openly evokes Star Wars' final sequence without having to pay for its license. It's one more example of the ingenuity with which companies like Imagic dodged official licenses by appropriating the iconography of big movie hits without naming them directly. Its structure of a progressive approach toward a final target sets it apart from the 2600's more conventional constant-scroll shooters, and it's still remembered as one of the most solid pieces in Imagic's catalog for the console.
