Parker Brothers had a good touch in those years for turning toy and cartoon licenses into 2600 cartridges, and this G.I. Joe adaptation offers a fixed-view shooter where you have to take down the Cobra forces advancing toward the screen, in line with other "shooting gallery" games the console explored during those years. The aesthetic points directly to the action figures and the fantasy military imagery that made the cartoon popular.
It's one more piece of the toy-licensing fever that defined much of the 2600's catalog in the mid-'80s, when the console was already coexisting with its 8-bit successors.
