Star Wars - The Arcade Game, licensed by Atari to Parker Brothers and developed with Imagic's collaboration in 1983-84, adapts Atari's famous vector-graphics arcade game to the 2600 by replacing the vectors —impossible to reproduce on the console— with sprites, still managing to have TIE fighters that move faster than in the original, a convincing scaling effect in the tower segment, and what was considered at the time the best three-dimensional depth effect ever seen on the machine, during the final trench run. It's remembered as one of the few arcade conversions Parker Brothers got right from start to finish: a surprisingly faithful translation of the original trilogy to the hardware of a console that by then was already almost seven years old, and probably one of the best movie licenses of the entire 8-bit era.
