Dark Cloud combined exploration of procedurally generated dungeons with a unique city-rebuilding system: the player collected fragments of a world - houses, bridges, even inhabitants - that had been destroyed by an evil genie, and placed them back on a board to bring each town back to life. It was one of Level-5's earliest calling cards, the studio that years later would make Dragon Quest VIII and Ni no Kuni. It remains a beloved game from PS2's early days, valued both for its mechanical ambition and for laying the groundwork for what Level-5 would perfect in its sequel, Dark Chronicle.
This system doesn't run in the browser yet (Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox are on the way as web emulation matures). The dossier, media and community are already all yours.
