Battle Engine Aquila, developed by British studio Lost Toys and published by Infogrames in 2003, blends aerial, ground and on-foot third-person combat thanks to the Battle Engines, vehicles capable of transforming on the fly. The campaign follows a conflict between two futuristic factions over control of a devastated world.
Its technical ambition and the freedom to change shape mid-combat earned it critical praise, though the studio shut its doors just after finishing the project, leaving it as its only known work.
